Little brits and little dutchy are turning into true ozzies. Enjoying some "healthy" food from the BBQ and will be raised on white buns, sausages, raw carrots and cucumber!

Redback

I spotted a real redback spider on the fence but did not dare to come to close as these are not the ones you want to get bitten by! Scary. It has a red spot on the body so the name does make sense!

The wineries around Wang

De afgelopen dagen hebben in het teken van het bezoeken van de wineries hier in de omgeving gestaan, het zijn er veel, erg veel, en er is ook heel veel lekkere wijn te krijgen. Omdat het allemaal ook op moest 's avonds deden Tamar en ik even een kleine detox gedurende de dag terwijl Werner en Arjan stug doorzetten en erg succesvol waren in het determineren van een "lekker flesje", we zijn de kerstdagen dan ook meer dan goed doorgekomen!

Janette en Ivo waren er ook bij op 1e kerstdag, weliswaar van een afstandje maar toch!

Even opa en oma de nieuwe grasmaaier laten zien op de skype.

Een collega van Werner bracht ons een homemade sponge cake ter ere van onze eerste kersviering in Australie!

It was great having Tamar and Arjan over for Christmas and we were all invited at Louisa & Joe's place, they are great hosts and have a beautiful outdoor seating area.

Christmas down under 2009

We celebrated Christmas with lovely food and people, some seafood, salads, great cakes, a dip in the whirlpool and enough wine to last for a while!

Christmas Concert in the park

We went to a great Christmas concert in the park here in town. This time prepared with chairs, plaids and food as already twice we turned up at events without anything and that is so not Australian!! Always bring your chairs. The concert was lovely although Christmas in the heat is really strange. We just hope it will not get too hot as this week we had another heat warning meaning it is too hot to be outside, not funny.

Dutch Down Under

Eline and Maartje are both exchange students in oz, Eline in Canberra and Maartje in Wang. After spending the day with the two of them I felt rather old!! But had loads of fun and they explained me some MTV slang (chillax). As you can see they still crave licorice, they sell "salmiakballen" and "muntendrop" at the candy shop in Beechworth.

Eline is really into fashion statements by matching her sunglasses to the (not) so cool helmet and Maartje is doing her best cycling with clogs, as we all do in the Netherlands all of the time;-).

Achternicht Eline

Eline is een exchange student in Canberra en aangezien dat hier om de hoek is komt ze even op familie bezoek! Vandaag een uitstapje naar de Murray river in Corowa. Oja in het engels is ze een great niece!

We were lousy gardeners in Wales (where Martijn and Jorien were able to produce vegetables!!) and we have not been much more successful over here, we managed to grow one tomato.........

eindelijk, zonder kerst stal, want daar zat mos op, echt mos, en dat mag niet. Alle verdachte dozen worden open gemaakt door customs bij aankomst ter controle.

Happy birthday, we learned all about cake in Wales and now we are learning all about sausages to celebrate a birthday!

Otway Fly jungle walk

Loop je tussen de toppen van de bomen, de bomen zijn rond de 40 meter en ik heb hoogte vrees.

And this is how you prepare your child for a day on the beach, fully covered. Finn is drilled by his day care centre as all children have to wear sun lotion all the time plus a hat.

We were looking at this blue tongue lizard but all of a sudden there was a big snake behind the bush in the middle of the photo, nice....

The twelve apostles are amazing but we had a lot of fog on the day we visited, no view at first but later on it got better and we even saw dolphins.

Breakfast at our cottage with beautiful views and tea at the sea, happy days.

Cape Otway

A bit later we saw a huge brown snake in this field. I do not like snakes at all and we saw two during this trip.

Op vakantie tijdens vakantie!

Since my mum is here we took the chance to spend 48 hours in Melbourne and had a fab time!!
We loved the city and loved the ocean!!! Melbourne is around 270 k from Wang so close enough for a regular city trip.
